Applicable Fares and Fees

About Applicable Fares and Fees

When purchasing an airplane ticket, fares and fees apply that will take effect on the customer's boarding date. Even if fares and/or fees increase or decrease after the airplane ticket has been purchased, the customer will not be charged or refunded the difference.* Additionally, if fares and/or fees change after the customer has reserved an airplane ticket but before the payment due date (before purchasing the ticket), the fares and/or fees at the time of purchase will differ from what the customer was told when the reservation was made.

The Applicable Fare on the Date of Airplane Ticket Purchase Applies

Even if fares change after the airplane ticket has been purchased, the customer will not be charged or refunded the difference.

If a fare decreases
For example, even if a fare purchased on Apr 1 is reduced to JPY 10,000 on Apr 15, the customer does not receive a refund for the difference.
If a fare increases
For example, even if a fare purchased on Apr 1 is reduced to JPY 20,000 on Apr 15, the customer does not receive a refund for the difference.

Date of Fare Calculation

The date on which your fare calculation is based is called the "date of fare calculation". In general, the date of fare calculation is the same as the date on which you purchase the airplane ticket, but the date of fare calculation is sometimes a different day than the actual date of purchase.

  • Cases involving payment at some convenience stores: Learn More.
The date of fare calculation is established separately for each flight.
  • Cases in which a return flight (one way fare) is added after a one-way fare purchase is made, changing the fares to a round trip fare: Learn More.

Specific Examples

Here are some specific examples that will help you understand "dates of fare calculation" and applicable fares.

Example 1

A case in which a fare is decreased
(1) On Apr 1, a customer purchases an airplane ticket for a flight departing on Jun 1 at the price of JPY 15,000.
(2) On May 1, the price is reduced to JPY 10,000.
(3) The customer departs, having paid JPY 15,000.

The difference of JPY 5,000 is not refunded.

The fare amount on the date of purchase applies, so even though the price was reduced on May 1, the difference of JPY 5,000 is not refunded.
Example 2

A case in which a fare is increased
(1) On Apr 1, a customer purchases an airplane ticket for a flight departing on Jun 1 at the price of JPY 15,000.
(2) On May 1, the price is increased to JPY 20,000.
(3) The customer departs, having paid JPY 15,000.

The customer is not charged the difference of JPY 5,000.

The fare amount on the date of purchase applies, so even though the price was increased on May 1, the difference of JPY 5,000 is not charged.

If a Reservation Is Changed

There are some cases in which the price difference will be charged or refunded if a reservation is changed.

Example 3

A case in which the price difference is not charged or refunded
(1) On Apr 1, a customer purchases an airplane ticket to receive a DOMIN fare discount for a flight on May 1 at the price of JPY 20,000. (The DOMIN fare price for May is JPY 20,000.)
(2) On Apr 15, the May DOMIN fare price is increased to JPY 21,000.
(3) On Apr 20, the customer changes the boarding date to May 10.
(4) The customer departs, having paid JPY 20,000.

The customer is not charged the difference of JPY 1,000.

The fare amount on the date of purchase applies, so even though the price was increased on April 15, the difference of JPY 1,000 is not charged.
Example 4

A case in which the price difference is charged or refunded (1)
• In this example, the fare price differs between the regular season and the busy season.
(1) On Jul 1, a customer purchases a one-way fare for a flight on Aug 10 (busy season) for a cost of JPY 30,000.
(2) On Jul 30, the boarding date is changed to Sep 1 (regular season). (As of Jul 1, the fare price for Sep 1 is set at JPY 25,000.)
(3) The customer departs, having paid JPY 25,000.

The difference of JPY 5,000 is refunded.

If the regular season and high season have different fare amounts, the difference of JPY 5,000 will be refunded.
Example 5

A case in which the price difference is charged or refunded (2)
• In this example, the fare price differs even during the regular season (the same applies for the busy season).
(1) On Feb 10, a customer purchases a one-way fare with a boarding date of Mar 1 (regular season) at a price of JPY 25,000.
(2) On Feb 25, the boarding date is changed to Apr 2 (regular season). (As of Feb 2, the fare price for Apr 2 is set at JPY 26,000.)
(3) The customer departs, having paid JPY 26,000.

The difference of JPY 1,000 is charged.

If the fare differs within the same regular season (or similarly the high season), the difference of JPY 1,000 will be charged.

If the Date of Fare Calculation Differs From the Date of Airplane Ticket Purchase

Under the following circumstances, the date of fare calculation will differ from the date the airplane ticket is purchased.

Example 6

A case in which a return flight (one-way fare) is added after a one-way fare purchase is made, changing the fares to a round trip fare

(1) On Apr 1, a customer purchases a one-way fare for a flight departing on May 1 at the price of JPY 26,000.

Note:
  • As of Apr 1, the round trip fare (one-way portion) for a flight boarding on May 1 is JPY 22,000.

(2) On Apr 15, the customer adds a return flight (boarding on May 10) and changes the fares to a round trip fare.

Note:
  • As of Apr 15, the round trip fare (one-way portion) for a flight departing on May 10 is JPY 20,000.
